The Arts at Deerfield

Deerfield Academy Summer
Arts Camp (DASAC)

In the summer months, Deerfield operates a summer arts camp for the local community. The mission of the camp is "to provide teens and pre-teens with an emotionally safe and physically safe environment for fun and creative summer experiences in the arts."

More information can be found at the DASAC website.

Deerfield students and faculty are extraordinarily productive in the performing and visual arts. Numerous exhibitions and performances enliven the school calendar, drawing enthusiastic audiences and providing showcases for individual talents as well as group efforts. Art exhibitions in the Academy's Hilson Gallery, Russell Gallery, and the student gallery provide recognition for promising young artists and photographers, while numerous dramatic productions provide the stage for Deerfield actors and enlist the expertise of student technicians.

Student musicians and dancers have the opportunity to share their talents at various times throughout the year, as well. Highlights include concerts and choral music performances, dance recitals featuring original student compositions, and theater. In addition to the three major theater productions each year, plays and scenes are also performed by students in advanced acting classes.

Musical groups include Chamber Music, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Choir, Academy Chorus, and the a cappella Chamber Singers. Students interested in dance may explore modern, jazz, and ballet with the opportunity to perform all three terms. All Deerfield students are encouraged to participate in the visual or performing arts regardless of their level of experience.
