This winter Director of Theatre John Reese and his troupe of student actors will perform Thornton Wilder's classic, Our Town. Considered by many to be the quintessential American play, Our Town premiered on Broadway in 1938 and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for drama that same year.
Our Town depicts life in the small New Hampshire town of Grover's Corners at the turn of the twentieth century. Mr. Wilder, however, noted that, "Our Town is not offered as a picture of life in a New Hampshire town or as a speculation about the conditions of life and death. It is an attempt to find a value above all price for the smallest events in our daily life."
Deerfield's production will run from February 14 to 18 in the Black Box Theatre at 7:00 p.m. For information on tickets, please contact Mr. Reese at 413.774.1556.
