Volunteers Day 2009
October 1, 2009 | On September 26th, Deerfield hosted nearly 100 parents and alumni at Volunteers Day. Volunteers were able to refresh themselves on the Deerfield experience and its value and were reminded especially about the amazing adults in the community who support the educational mission.
Panelists included: The Deans of Admission, Faculty, Studies and College Advising who each spoke about the major issues in their areas.
The Finance, Financial Aid and Dean of Students offices on the academy's fiscal prudence and examples of how kids benefit from financial support.
The Associate Head of School for Alumni and Development spoke on the amazing success of Annual Support 2008-2009, with a finish only one hundred thousand dollars below our record amount of the year before.
Finally, The Head of School spoke about the wonderful energy on campus and the time she is spending learning about our amazing students by visiting them in their dorms and by hiking with the freshmen to "the rock" in small groups . Alumni volunteers shared best practices and brainstorming in their committee work sessions: Executive Committee of the Alumni Association, Boyden Society Advisory Committee and Annual Support Volunteers and parents did the same in their Senior Parents Committee and Deerfield Parents Committee.
It was a beautiful fall day and everyone left the meetings feeling informed and enthused about the year ahead!
